Roughly $0.0015 to $0.0025 per stream. In the US, the same stream pays around $0.004 to $0.006. Spotify's payout is a share of its revenue, and Kenyan subscriptions (plus free-tier dominance) generate a lot less revenue per listener than US ones. Run the numbers yourself in our Spotify calculator by switching the region to Kenya.
About $0.0008 to $0.002 per Kenyan stream. A US stream pays $0.003 to $0.008. The gap is mostly about ad rates: advertisers pay far less per impression in emerging markets. Our YouTube Music calculator shows both side by side.
Tidal pays the highest per stream (roughly $0.010 to $0.014 in the US). But it has a tiny audience compared to Spotify or Apple Music. Boomplay pays less per stream but has the largest Kenyan audience by far, so total earnings can beat a higher-rate platform for a local artist. Compare all platforms in the calculators.
You need a distributor. Spotify, Apple, and most others don't accept uploads from artists directly. RouteNote is what we use; their free tier gets you on every major platform globally. Our step-by-step distribution guide walks through it.
Mixing balances the parts of one song (vocals, drums, bass) so it sounds like a song, not a pile of tracks. Mastering polishes the final file so it sits well next to other songs on Spotify. Full breakdown here.
Yes, both in-house. We work in Cubase for tracking and mixing, and Adobe Audition for detailed edits and pre-master cleanup. Same team through the whole chain means faster turnaround and consistent sound.
Your lyrics on your phone, two or three reference tracks in a folder, non-menthol lozenges, and a light snack. We provide water, iPhone and Android phone chargers, and Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones. Full prep guide here.
Three hours. That's usually enough to track one song with multiple vocal takes plus a rough mix to take home. Serious songs sometimes need two sessions. Book your slot here.
M-Pesa STK Push. You book at book.s56newshub.org, pick a service and time slot, then your phone gets a prompt to approve the payment. No cards, no bank transfers. Payment confirms the booking automatically.
Yes. Once you're happy with your final file, we'll walk you through RouteNote signup right at the studio. Bring your laptop or use one of ours; we'll help you upload, set your artist profile, fill in metadata correctly, and claim your Spotify for Artists page before you leave.
