Studio 56 KE is a music recording studio in Nairobi. We have been at it since February 2022 and we work with artists across Mugithi, Kikuyu Benga, Lingala, Hip Hop, voice-overs and anything else that walks through the door taking sound seriously.
From the first session to a global release, we handle the lot. Tracking, mixing, mastering, and getting the music onto Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Boomplay, Audiomack and the rest.
The Founders
Waweru Uyu, CEO and Founder
Drummer first. Founder second. Waweru has played drums for Samidoh, Waithaka, Wachuka Muchendu, 90K Ka Msoh, Wanjiru Wa Wawaya and a long list of others on the East African circuit.
Off the kit, he is a self-taught producer and sound engineer who has worked locally and internationally on major events. He is also a certified data analyst and a certified cyber-security expert. He helps Studio 56 artists secure their social profiles, gather data on their releases, and distribute their music globally. The digital stack you are reading right now? He built it.
Muriithi Wa Quail, Co-founder and Engineer
Muriithi is the ear behind every record we put out. He has been a guitarist for years (solo, rhythm, bass, one-man-guitar) and a drummer before that. He has played live across Kenya in pretty much every chair on the bandstand.
Since Studio 56 opened, Muriithi has personally recorded, mixed and mastered every hit that has come out of this room. He is a self-taught producer and sound engineer with international event experience. He understands the Mugithi and Kikuyu Benga rhythm pocket like a member of the band, because he has been one for over fifteen years.
